Tissington Artisan Craft Fair - Well Dressing - 13th, 14th and 15th May 2024

  • Tissington Village Hall The Green Ashbourne, England, DE6 1RA United Kingdom (map)

We are delighted to be back for Tissington Well Dressing 2024!

Join us on the last three days of Tissington Well Dressing week as we bring you a selection of the finest makers from around the local region. Carefully chosen to take part in these special artisan markets.

Our focus on quality and originality ensures that each item comes with its own unique tale, offering visitors the chance to connect with the maker behind the piece and gain a deeper appreciation for their skill and dedication. At the Well Dressing markets visitors can explore a diverse selection of products from intricate gemstone jewellery and quilted textiles to traditional woodwork and modern floral arrangements.

Our venue, Tissington Village Hall, is located between the Town Well and the Yew Tree Well. You will find us directly across the road from the village duck pond, which is an ideal spot to watch the adorable ducklings. The building benefits from a Wi-Fi connection, which means many of our stallholders can accept card payments with ease.

A Cherished Local Tradition

This Peak District tradition has been a part of Tissington life for centuries and we feel very privileged to be a part of it. There are 6 wells in the village, each dressed with a design created entirely from natural materials including coffee beans, leaves and petals from local flowers. The dressings are erected on the eve of Ascension Day (Wednesday 8th May) and will remain in place until the following Wednesday evening (15th May).

Meet Our Makers

Our markets feature a changing lineup of small artisan businesses to provide an exciting and enjoyable experience each time you visit.

Here's a sneak peek at some of the stalls you can expect to discover:

Nature Inspired Artwork by Laurien Smith - (13th May)
As a keen nature lover, Laurien’s inspiration for her artwork comes from discovering different species of birds while on walks in the Peak District and at home.  Her detailed watercolour artwork brings these beautiful creatures to life on prints, cards and coasters.

Decorative Animal Sculptures and Garden Accessories by Wibbly Willow - (13th May)
Patricia’s love of creating led her to willow weaving completely by accident.  Creating her sculptures is the perfect way for her to mix her love of nature and gardening.  Her range also includes plant supports, bird feeders and decorative wreaths.

Beautiful Wreaths and Arrangements by Tanglewood Florals - (13th -14th May)
Julie uses her floristry experience to create beautiful one of a kind faux flower wreaths and arrangements.  She enjoys tailoring these high quality flowers and foliage for the coming season.

Handcrafted Jewellery by Panache Arts - (13th - 15th May)
Jenny combines traditional beading techniques with wire wrapping to produce one of a kind jewellery. Her use of semi-precious stones result in elegant pieces that make a statement.

Peak District Photography by Phil Sproson - (13th-15th May)
Phil has lived and worked in the Peak District for many years and his passion for the area is clear to see in many of the prints cards and jigsaw puzzles you will see on his stall.
