April 2023 - Surprise Appearances

With our second year of markets just about to begin, we were delighted to make two unexpected appearances…

We always knew April would be a busy month as this year our first two weekends of markets were going to fall over bank holidays. The first was Easter which was quickly followed by the Early May bank holiday weekend at the end of the month.

At the beginning of the month we were delighted to find ourselves featured in the What’s On Guide in the April 2023 edition of Derbyshire Life magazine.

It was a follower on our social media page who first drew our attention to it after they received their subscription copy early.

We had no idea that our market was going to be mentioned but it made me feel so proud seeing our name in such a well loved Derbyshire publication.

I was also very excited to be asked to appear as a guest on Pam Sidhu’s programme on BBC Radio Derby. The programme celebrates arts and entertainment in Derbyshire and East Staffordshire and it was a pleasure to talk to her about Tissington Craft Fairs.

The programme went out live on on Good Friday evening (the night before our first event of the year). It was a little nerve wrecking being interviewed live on air, but once I began talking about the variety of makers at our markets over the bank holiday weekend I quickly got into the flow of things.

It was a pleasure to meet several stallholders who were new to Tissington Craft Fairs this month including: Wear it Quirky, The Joyful Potter, Blue and Gold Botanics, Lisbeth Faye Jewellery, Beautifulee Felt, Christine Jones Printmaker, Coppertop Jewellery, The Wanda Coyne Collection, Sugar & Plum, Letterjoy, Austyn Artistry, Quirk Wonky Glass and Riverwood Jewellery.

We’re looking forward to another very busy month in May, with markets on five days of Tissington Well Dressing week and then again over the late May bank holiday, which also coincides with Derbyshire Open Arts (you may have seen our advert in their brochure). We hope to see you there!
